Air Air Air Air

Well, we all know that air is something we need every second of our life. Without it, nothing will stay alive on land or sea.

So, with all reasonable effort we must allow ourselves to be cautious of what we release into the atmosphere. Yet we take it for granted that the right thing is being done.

Far from it; the gases that come from our automotive transportation, heating our houses, generating electricity, and the escape of the different chemicals that are released into the atmosphere.

Is it any wonder that people suffer from allergies indoors and outdoors?

Yes, the air does clean it self under normal conditions. But what is considered "NORMAL?"

Oh yes, people will say; "but look at the outbreak of volcanoes, they produce a heck of a lot of pollution".

Yes, that is very true. Did anyone ever tell you that the ashes that come down and settle on the land? Within a very short time greenery will grow because of the mineral enrichment that came about. The gases are a minute problem compared to the un-natural gases we as people and industry spread around.

It is also known, that inside our homes is more pollution than in many cases in the open air.

TRUE, just look at our surroundings. Broadlooms, polyester cloth on your upholstery, the clothes we wear, and on we go”. What about the fiber boards that are being used in the construction industry? These polyesters and nylon fabrics release polyvinyl chloride and other gases.

Some European countries will not allow people to move into their newly build homes for about 6 months. During that time the house is forcefully aired so the gases can escape from the homes, (in reality, this is not enough time to do a proper job of it). But it is a heck of lot better than what we do here in North America.

Many years ago, when I was involved with the Canadian Schizophrenia Society, we learned that the removal of broadloom was enough to lessen, if not give total relief of many breathing allergies. Yet we continue to install and wear these unfriendly items on the daily bases.

Please remember, we not only breathe through our nose, the skin is the largest organ on our body, and it absorbs anything and everything that gets in touch with it. (Air, gases and liquids) This includes clothes that touch the skin!! Perspiration will leach chemicals from our clothes!

So let us be mindful of the stuff we release into the atmosphere, if we intend to stay healthy!

There are some companies that sell air cleaners; some use heppa filters as the final filtration system. Some use negative ionizers to do the job, here we have to be careful that it does not produce too much ions. This can and will be a health hazard too.

The consensus is that more than 0.04 ppm (parts per million) is not very healthy.

Some companies wash the air with water; this is fine as long as the water is free of chlorine and other non advertised chemicals that is pump into you house.

The better way is what the old timers used to do. "OPEN THE WINDOWS to clear the air". Even in the winter, it will not hurt you or the inside of the house. Besides, stale air takes more energy to heat up. When cold air is introduced into the house, then through the heating process it will expand, and this will prevent drafts to a certain degree.

This why the industry has introduced air exchange machines, these will pump in fresh air in while it takes stale air out. These machines are very necessary in the newly build houses. Because they were build to be air tight. Can you imagine what would the end result be, if no fresh air would get into the house, except when you open the door to get in or out?

Donīt even think about it!!

We researched far and wide, to find the right products to help us keep the inside of our house safe and comfortable.

Yes, we did find a company that has the better way of doing it, as soon as we get their permission to mention them, we will let you know.

Yours truly,
